Edinburgh Textbooks on the English Language

Series Editor(s): Heinz J Giegerich

This textbook series provides detailed description and explanation of aspects of English. It is divided into two sections - introductory and advanced. The introductory books each cover the equivalent of an introductory course and contain exercises, recommendations for further reading and a glossary. Together, they cover all aspects of the language that form a substantial and identifiable part of introductory English Language courses. Individual volumes cover aspects of the history and structure of the language such as: syntax, phonology, morphology, regional and social variation, Old English, Middle English and international Englishes.
