Writing an article in a second language

Writing an article can be challenging as it is, let alone writing one in a second or third language, which may force an author to work across academic spheres with different conventions and expectations.

In a large percentage of cases, this is a challenge faced by researchers across the globe writing in English. Although many English-speaking students based in non-anglocentric fields of study also produce research in other languages.

Regardless of the language, writing outside of your mother tongue comes with its own challenges and it is never an easy task. With that in mind, this guide is here to provide some advice and resources to help you throughout the article-writing process. While we cannot completely remove all of the obstacles faced when writing in a second language, this guide should provide some tips and tricks on how to tackle them.
