Open access ebook distribution

Knowledge Unlatched

In order to make sure that open access books are available to libraries in a convenient way, Edinburgh University Press submits all of our open access ebooks and supporting metadata to KU Open Services. They then create MARC21-Records and integrate the metadata into all relevant indexing systems:

  • BiblioLabs
  • JSTOR
  • MuseOpen
  • Oapen
  • Unglue.it
  • DOAB
  • BASE
  • EBSCO Discovery Service and KB
  • Ex Libris KB/KW
  • Gemeinsamer Bibliotheksverbund Verbundzentrale (GBV)
  • Google Books/Scholar
  • OCLC KB/Worldcat
  • Paperhive
  • Summon/Alma

Knowledge Unlatched also make EUP open access books available via their Open Research Library – they become publicly available during month of publication or shortly afterwards.

Additional platforms

Our open access books are also available from the month of publication or shortly afterwards via:

  • The Edinburgh University Press website as PDF or in our Glassboxx app
  • EBSCO - available (for libraries)
  • ProQuest - available (for libraries)
  • JSTOR - available
  • De Gruyter website - available
  • UPL Open - publicly available
  • OAPEN via Knowledge Unlatched

Open access ebook chapters

OA ebook chapters are hosted on the EUP books website and OAPEN, and may be paywalled as part of the full book license with aggregators and other platforms. The full ebook price has been lowered to take account of these chapters.

Print editions of open access books

The print editions of OA ebooks are sold through all the same channels as non-OA print books.

Archiving

Our open access books are archived with Portico and CLOCKSS.
