We are delighted that Social Interaction and L2 Classroom Discourse has been shortlisted for the 2016 BAAL Book Prize. Congratulations and good luck to Olcay Sert!

A total of 14 books were received from 10 publishers. Each book was anonymously reviewed by two reviewers and a short-list drawn up as follows:

  • Alastair Pennycook & Emi Otsuji. Metrolingualism: Language in the City. Routledge. 
  • Mario Saraceni. World Englishes: A Critical Analysis. Bloomsbury. 
  • Olcay Sert. Social Interaction and L2 Classroom Discourse. Edinburgh University Press. 
  • Julia Snell, Sara Shaw and Fiona Copland (eds). Linguistic Ethnography. Palgrave MacMillan.

The winner will be announced at the 2016 BAAL meeting at Anglia Ruskin University on Thursday evening 1st September.

Leftover copies of the books submitted will be sent to the British Council for distribution to libraries in developing countries.
