John M. MacKenzie & Angela McCarthy at the Edinburgh International Book Festival

Wednesday 16th Aug 2017

Bosco Theatre, 12.30-1.30pm

How important have Scots been in the countries they settled in or colonised? There’s certainly been enough of them: in Global Migrations: The Scottish Diaspora since 1600, editors Angela McCarthy and John M MacKenzie put the figure at 2.5 million. This collection of essays studies their impact across the globe from Canada to Hong Kong, and focuses on a range of themes including slavery, war and tourism. Chaired by Rosemary Burnett.
