About the Trustees

Ultimate responsibility for the conduct of the business of Edinburgh University Press rests with the Trustees. Trustees are appointed by the Court of the University of Edinburgh. Appointments are for a three-year period, which may be extended by one further period of three years, unless otherwise a longer term of appointment is approved by the University’s Subsidiary Oversight Group.

The Trustees meet four times a year with the Board of Management in attendance and will receive at such meetings financial reports, budgets, publishing and title reports and papers on key issues of policy or strategy. They have a dual ‘reporting line’ to the University; to the Academic Policy Committee and to Corporate Services and through the former to the Senate and the latter to The University Court.

  • Professor Douglas Cairns, (Chair) Professor of Classics
  • Ashley Shannon, Director of Operations at Corporate Services
